You can access Bob's interview with Zellers from last Friday by clicking here; you may access Sue's program of speaking about the budget by clicking here. (The headline on the segment with Bob & Zellers is wrong; so is the date. Ignore it and simply run the audio file.)
Asked by Bob why Republicans were increasing, spending Zellers replied, "It was the forecast.... The taxpayers of the state produced more than the bureaucrats at the capitol expected them to."
In other words, they don't have the money yet. It might come in, although budget forecasts are often wrong. (That's why the state often runs at a deficit; it operates on forecasts instead of the facts.) If it does come in Kurt, wants to spend it.
Here's an idea: You ran on the idea that government was spending too much. So put the excess in the budget reserve and cut spending and cut taxes; don't tell us that more is coming in so you're going to spend more. You didn't run on that.
If big spending is what Speaker Zellers supports, he should step down from his position as speaker. If you skip to the 40th minute of Sue Jeffers' program, you can hear me say as much on air.
